Redfern’s Cottage features five museum galleries that chart the story of Uttoxeter from a small Anglo-Saxon settlement to the modern town of today. Our galleries are now fully open to all visitors. if you have any queries in advance of your visit please contact us.

Directions

By Car: Uttoxeter is situated in East Staffordshire, 15 miles east of Burton-on-Trent and 12 miles west of Stoke-on-Trent so is easily accessible by exiting the M6 at Junction 15 or the M1 at Junction 23a then taking the A50 towards Uttoxeter.

By bus: There are regular buses from Burton-on-Trent and Stoke-on-Trent bus stations which stop at many of the small villages and towns on route. For help planning your bus journey follow this link.

By train: There are hourly trains from Stoke-on-Trent and Derby stations to Uttoxeter Railway station and then there is a 10-15 minute walk to the museum. For help planning your train journey follow this link.

Parking

There are limited free on street parking places outside Redfern’s Cottage but if you have a blue badge you can ring us to arrange a parking space at the back of the museum.

There are plenty of town centre car parks within 5 minutes walking distance from the museum.

 

Accessibility

The ground floor shop, café and garden spaces are fully accessible including our toilet.

The main museum galleries on the first floor can only be accessed via stairs.

We have activities for children throughout the museum and learning aides suitable for everyone. Visually impaired visitors can ask for any assistance they require with orientation and reading information.

Shop

Redfern’s Cottage gift shop are proud to support a wide variety of local makers, authors and poets with a variety of reasonably priced handmade gifts to suit all tastes. The shop also stocks a wonderful range of exclusive Uttoxeter branded ceramics and  gifts as well as local history books, cards and post cards.

We are delighted to announce our new café which will allow visitors to relax in our new glass and oak extension, taking in exhibitions and our newly designed courtyard garden over a cup of Fairtrade tea or coffee.

Tourist Information

Visitors to Uttoxeter can find extensive tourist information about attractions in Staffordshire and the surrounding area. Redfern’s Cottage friendly volunteers can assist with local visitor information including town maps, buses and local eateries.
